The Danbury Fair in Danbury, Connecticut, is the subject here, and this halftone is dated by its caption card to roughly 1925 to 1935. Agricultural fairs of that era combined livestock judging, produce and craft exhibits, and midway amusements, making them central gatherings for farm and village communities. The halftone process broke photographs into patterns of tiny dots so they could be printed on ordinary presses, which made it the standard way such images reached newspapers and magazines. Because the date and title come from an unverified card, the exact year is still uncertain.
