The title pairs two names, Kunston and Oldfield, with the date November 17, 1921, but the record notes that this label comes from data the National Photo Company wrote on the negative or its sleeve and has not been verified. The National Photo Company was a commercial studio in Washington, D.C., that recorded the city's streets, buildings and public life in the early twentieth century. Its glass negatives came to the Library of Congress as a gift from Herbert A. French in 1947. The record also points to natural deterioration of the original coatings, which causes the streaks and blemishes visible on the glass.
