The caption on this 1913 glass negative links the Italian tenor Enrico Caruso to Easter, though the title comes from Bain News Service data that has not been verified. By then Caruso was the most famous opera singer in the world and a regular at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where his performances drew heavy press coverage. The Bain collection, built by a New York photo agency that supplied pictures to newspapers, preserves many such portraits of performers and public figures from the early twentieth century.
