Here Helen Herron Taft, wife of President William Howard Taft, is pictured in Glacier National Park holding an object the caption calls a "Sacred Wimpuss Skin," a name the Bain News Service recorded without verification, so its spelling and meaning deserve caution. The park had been created in 1910, and the Bain agency, a New York news photo business, supplied images of prominent people and places to newspapers in the early 1900s. No date is recorded, so the photograph is best read as a record of how public figures were shown on western travels during that period.
