Titled simply *Battle of Gettysburg*, this print dates from around 1887, roughly two decades after the fighting in the Pennsylvania town in July 1863. The catalog record associates it with Louis Prang & Co., a Boston lithography firm known for colorful prints that sold well to a public eager for Civil War scenes, though that attribution is unverified. Its copyright date suggests it was made for commercial sale as memories of the war were becoming a popular subject. The battle's third day, July 3, included Pickett's Charge, the Confederate assault on Union lines at Cemetery Ridge that became one of the war's most famous infantry attacks.
