This poster stands out for its service star and its list of seven participating organizations, which together appealed for funds for troops in the United States and overseas. The Y.M.C.A., Y.W.C.A., Salvation Army, National Catholic War Council, Jewish Welfare Board, War Camp Community Service, and American Library Association each ran welfare programs for servicemen, such as canteens, recreation halls, libraries, and camp social services. The 1918 United War Work Campaign pooled their appeals into a single drive, so donors could give once to support all of them. Ernest Hamlin Baker's color lithograph, printed in New York, reflects the wartime effort to rally civilians behind the troops.
