Pat Moran, who managed the Cincinnati Reds, is the subject of this glass negative from the Bain News Service. Moran led the Reds to the 1919 World Series title over the Chicago White Sox, a series later overshadowed by the Black Sox gambling scandal, and that championship made him one of the better-known managers of his day. The record gives no date, so the occasion is unknown, but Bain's agency made many images of sports figures for newspaper use in the early twentieth century, and this one reflects that practice.
