The title credits a player named McNally with stealing home, a daring play in which a base runner breaks from third and sprints to the plate before the catcher can make a tag. The record gives the name only as the Bain News Service recorded it, and it carries no date, so the player and the game remain unconfirmed. Bain's operation, based in New York in the early twentieth century, sold news pictures to newspapers, and dramatic baseball moments like this were a popular subject because one dash could decide a game. The glass negative format places it in that era of press photography.
