Two small boys, identified on the caption card as Louis and Lola Navratil, appear in this glass negative from the Bain News Service. Their story was one of the most widely reported episodes after the sinking of the Titanic in April 1912. Their father, Michel Navratil, had taken them from their mother in France and boarded the liner under an assumed name, and he died in the disaster while the boys were rescued. The names here come from the Bain caption information, which the record notes is unverified, so the children are best understood through that wider press coverage of their case.
