Recruiting skilled tradesmen was the purpose of this 1917 color lithograph, which calls on mechanics and technical specialists to join the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The United States had entered the First World War that April, and the army needed men who could build and maintain roads, railways, and bridges, along with surveyors who could lay out work in the field. The poster presents technical enlistment as a mark of skill and pride. Its record notes that the sheet was cut down from its original dimensions, so some of its original border or text may be missing.
