Ground crews, not pilots, are the focus of this poster. Its caption invites skilled workers to serve behind the lines in the Air Service, the Signal Corps branch that ran U.S. military aviation before it became a separate arm in 1918. Printed in Philadelphia by Ketterlinus, probably in 1917, it borrows the phrase "Over there" from the popular wartime song of that year. It also notes that men already registered in the draft could still enlist, a reminder of how recruiters courted mechanics and other tradesmen during the first year of American involvement in the war.
