The only name attached to this negative is Edwards, a title the National Photo Company wrote on the glass or its sleeve. The record marks that title as unverified, so the boy's identity remains uncertain. The plate dates to about 1921 to 1922, when the company was producing portraits and street views in Washington, D.C. Glass negatives of this age can show streaks and blemishes as their coatings deteriorate, which may account for the marks visible on this example. Herbert A. French gave it to the Library of Congress in 1947.
