The airship on this Bain News Service negative is labeled *La Ville de Paris*, a title taken from the agency's caption data that has not been independently verified, and no date is recorded. Its builder, Henri Deutsch, was a French oil industrialist and aeronaut who financed airship experiments in the early 1900s, including a prize for flying around the Eiffel Tower that Alberto Santos-Dumont won in 1901. The Bain agency supplied news photographs to American newspapers, so this plate likely documented European aviation for a US audience during the early years of powered flight.
