Old Eastern High School stood at the corner of 7th and C Streets in Southeast Washington, and this view records the building at the corner. The picture comes from the National Photo Company, a commercial studio that documented the capital's streets, buildings and daily life in the early twentieth century. The glass negative is dated only to a span between 1910 and 1935. Look for the streaks and blemishes across the plate, which come from the natural breakdown of the original coatings on the glass rather than from the scene itself.
