This color poster centers on Mercersburg, a Pennsylvania school town best known for its preparatory academy, and it shows baseball players from that period in the years around 1900 to 1910. Bristow Adams signed the stone in the lower right, and the work was published in Washington, D.C., by Andrew B. Graham around 1903. Graham's firm used photolithography to turn artwork into inexpensive, colorful prints, which were popular souvenirs for schools and athletic teams of the era. The piece is a useful record of how collegiate and school sports were promoted in print at the turn of the century.
