A white automobile in the foreground sets the scale for this view up the Swift Current River valley in Glacier National Park, Montana, taken from a road. The park was established in 1910, and by the early 1920s motor touring was bringing visitors into mountain valleys that had once been reached mostly on foot or horseback. The record dates the print to about 1920, though that date is an estimate. The small car makes the valley and the peaks above it look even larger.
