Three women carrying goods in the foreground anchor this view of a street, with other figures moving through the background. The caption card identifies the subject as street vendors, a familiar sight in Vietnamese towns, where traders carried produce and wares on foot or on shoulder poles. The print was issued under the name Quoc-Gia Viet-Nam, used by the State of Vietnam government in the early 1950s, when the country was still caught up in its war with France. The date is unverified, so the scene is best read as a glimpse of everyday commerce.
