This panorama stands out for its length: at 6.5 by 45.5 inches, it is a long, narrow gelatin silver print meant to be taken in as one continuous sweep across the city. The record shows it was registered for copyright on November 17, 1919, by Geo. Prince, whose listed address was on St. Charles Avenue, one of New Orleans's best-known streets. In 1919 the city was a busy Gulf port and a center of commerce and music. Copyright deposits like this one preserved many local views that might otherwise have been lost.
