The depot in this view belongs to the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway, known as the Frisco, which ran through Sapulpa in the Creek Nation area of what became eastern Oklahoma. By about 1909, a few years after statehood, railroads like the Frisco were the main link between small towns in the region and the wider markets for cotton, grain, coal, and livestock. Depots like this one served as passenger stops, freight points, and gathering places for townspeople. The record's details come from a caption card and have not been independently verified, so the exact date and photographer should be treated with some caution.
