The only identifying text for this negative is a partly uncertain title, "Veslel[?], Bults," which the National Photo Company noted on its negative sleeves, so the subject itself remains unconfirmed. The small glass plate, four by five inches or smaller, dates to about 1920, when the company's photographers produced large numbers of views of American towns, people, and events for commercial clients. Herbert A. French gave the negative to the Library of Congress in 1947, and it shows the streaks and blemishes that develop as the original coating on glass plates of this age deteriorates.
