This glass negative is catalogued as "Mayor Tesuman," but the name carries a question mark, and the title is unverified, taken from notes the National Photo Company wrote on its negatives or sleeves. The Washington, D.C., firm worked from about 1907 into the 1930s, producing portraits and news pictures of officials and public events. The date of about 1920 is inferred from neighboring negatives rather than confirmed. The streaks and blemishes on the glass come from deterioration of the original coating, not from the scene itself.
