A large crowd in Yonkers, the Hudson River city just north of New York City, turned out to see Theodore Roosevelt, though the record does not say which visit this was. Roosevelt, president from 1901 to 1909, drew big crowds on his travels, and press photographers of the day often recorded them. The glass negative belongs to the George Grantham Bain Collection, a body of work from the Bain News Service, which supplied pictures to newspapers in the early 1900s. Its title comes from caption information the agency wrote, and that information has not been independently verified.
