A fire involving an automobile, recorded under the name Young & Simons, sets this glass negative apart from the many street and building views in the National Photo Company holdings. The company worked in Washington, D.C., in the early twentieth century, photographing the city's streets, businesses and events on glass plates. The title comes from notes the company wrote on the negative or its sleeve and has not been independently verified, so the date of 1910 to 1925 is inferred from negatives in the same range. Streaks and blemishes across the plate come from deterioration of its original coating, which is worth noticing when reading the image.
