Jennie Yeamans, the stage performer named in the title, is the figure at the center of this 1887 chromolithograph, which billed her under the affectionate nickname "Our Jennie." Yeamans was a popular comic and musical actress, and touring stars like her were promoted with large, colorful posters pasted on fences, storefronts and billboards in towns along their routes. Chromolithography used a separate stone or plate for each ink color, so the layered reds, yellows and blues of such posters show how much skilled hand work went into mass-printed advertising of the period.
