The title names a man called Fei Hung, most likely Wong Fei-hung, the Cantonese martial artist and herbal physician who became a folk hero in southern China in the late 1800s. The record is thin: the name comes from caption data supplied by the Bain News Service, which the Library of Congress marks as unverified, and no date is recorded. Bain's New York press service sold glass negatives like this one to newspapers and magazines, so the picture shows how a Chinese subject was presented to American readers in the early twentieth century.
