This poster advertises entertainment at the Mount Park Casino in Holyoke, Massachusetts, a venue on the edge of the city that drew crowds for dancing and shows in the early twentieth century. It was produced under the Works Progress Administration's Federal theater Project, which from 1935 to 1939 employed artists, actors and designers across the country to promote plays and performances. Federal theater posters are noted for bold lettering and graphic designs that borrowed from modernist and commercial styles. Its Holyoke connection is a reminder that the program reached well beyond the largest cities.
