This plate, the tenth illustration in Jehoshaphat Aspin's *A Familiar Treatise on Astronomy* (London, 1825), gathers three constellations on one sheet: Boötes, Canes Venatici, and Coma Berenices, along with the older Quadrans Muralis. Coma Berenices, "Berenice's Hair," honors Berenice, queen of Ptolemy III of Egypt, who according to the legend offered her hair to the gods for her husband's safe return from war. The etching was engraved by Hall and hand-colored, a common practice in early nineteenth-century British astronomy books that helped students tell the figures apart. The Quadrans Muralis, a constellation named for a mural quadrant instrument, was later dropped from star charts.
