The subject here is a ferry named *Britannia*, though that title was supplied by the cataloger, so the boat's name is the main detail the record offers. The negative comes from the Detroit Publishing Company, a firm known for travel views and postcards of American towns, landscapes, and transportation scenes in the early twentieth century. Made on a 5 by 7 inch glass plate sometime between 1915 and 1925, it was given to the collection by the State Historical Society of Colorado in 1949. Glass negatives like this were the working originals from which the company's prints were made.
