Roosevelt is shown mid-speech in Yonkers, New York, his arms raised in the animated gestures he was known for on the platform. The record dates the image to October 17, 1910, a few years after he left the presidency, when he was traveling and speaking widely in support of Republican and Progressive candidates in the midterm campaign. The picture comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, whose glass negatives were made by the Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied news photographs to newspapers. The title is taken from the Bain caption data, which the Library of Congress notes is unverified, so the location and date are best read as the archive's best record.
