Shown here is Herbert Hoover during his last year as president, in the months before the November 1932 election he lost to Franklin D. Roosevelt. The record gives a copyright date of August 26, 1932, held by Underwood & Underwood, a New York firm that supplied press pictures to newspapers across the country. The caption card ties the image to a conference, but those details come from old notes and have not been independently verified.
