Number four in a series from the Wentworth Institute, a Boston technical school, this 1917 color poster makes its appeal in a direct command: "Come on boys!" The United States had entered the First World War in April 1917, and recruiters depended on posters like this one to bring volunteers in quickly. Designed by Halsted Frances Adams, it presents enlisting as a personal duty young men owed their country, a message that ran through much of the wartime recruiting effort.
