Charles A. Lindbergh appears here at the height of his fame, when the young aviator was known across the country after his solo flight from New York to Paris in May 1927. This c1927 photoprint carries a copyright credit to Underwood & Underwood, one of the largest commercial photography firms of the era, which supplied news and portrait images to newspapers and magazines. Its caption card is unverified, so the exact sitting and date remain uncertain, but the image captures the wave of public attention that followed his transatlantic flight.
