The name Hertha Turk is attached to this glass negative, but the identification comes from caption data supplied by the Bain News Service and has not been verified. Bain's agency, founded in New York in the early 1900s, sold news pictures to newspapers, and its captions were often typed on cards that traveled with the negatives, so names could be recorded in haste or misspelled. Glass plates of this size were a standard tool of press and studio photography in that era, and their fragile emulsions make surviving examples a useful window into the period's technical practice. Anyone relying on the name should treat it as a lead to confirm rather than a settled fact.
