Three men are named on this glass negative from the Bain News Service: B.C. Forbes, the Scottish-born financial writer who founded Forbes magazine in 1917, along with Nathan S. Jonas and E. Cantor, whose roles the record does not describe. The names come from caption information the agency recorded on the negative or its card, and the Library of Congress lists them as unverified, so they should be read with that caveat. Bain News Service, based in New York, supplied news pictures to newspapers in the early twentieth century, and its glass negatives capture the business, political and public life of that period.
