The name on this glass negative, Clark Howell, matches that of the Atlanta newspaperman who edited the *Atlanta Constitution* for decades, though the record offers no date or other detail to confirm the match. The Bain News Service, a New York photo agency, supplied news pictures of public figures to newspapers from the late 1890s into the early 1930s, and its glass negatives often survive as the main visual record of such sitters. Because the title comes from unverified caption data, the identification should be read as provisional.
