Catalogued only under the city name, this halftone is numbered No. 239 and copyrighted by Samuel Chamberlain, an etcher and photographer who issued many photoprint views of New England in the 1930s. The record does not say which street, waterfront or building appears, and its caption-card details are unverified, so the exact scene is uncertain. Halftone screening broke a photograph into dots that could be printed in books and portfolios, which made affordable views of cities widely available during the Depression years.
