The title, "The Home of the Hot Feet," is an unusual nickname, and the record does not say which place or group it refers to, so the subject is best read from the title itself. The print is an elongated gelatin silver panorama, about 8 by 35.5 inches, a format photographers of the period used to take in a wide scene, such as a town, a crowd, or a gathering, in one exposure. Rufus W. Holsinger made the picture around 1911, when panoramic photographs were popular as souvenirs and as records of local life. Viewers may find the wide frame worth studying for its arrangement of people and surroundings.
