Few pictures on this board show an automobile parked among standing corn, with the rear of the car turned toward the camera and the field stretching out behind it. The record dates the photograph to August 3, 1915, when automobiles were still a novelty on many rural roads and a car sitting in a field would have been unusual. A handwritten note on the album page ties the picture to Louisiana floods in 1927, which does not match the 1915 date, so researchers should weigh the two sources carefully. Gelatin silver prints like this one were the standard medium for both amateur and professional photographers of the 1910s.
