Henrietta Rodman is named here as the subject, though the Bain News Service's identification on its caption cards has not been independently verified, and the record gives no date. If the name is correct, Rodman was a New York City schoolteacher who became one of the city's most outspoken feminists in the 1910s, campaigning for women's suffrage and for married women's right to keep teaching jobs. The Bain News Service, a New York photo agency active from about 1900 to the 1920s, made many portraits of public figures for newspapers, so this glass negative likely reflects that commercial work. Its exact date and circumstances are not recorded.
