Will H. Bradley made this color poster for the Thanksgiving number of *The Chap-Book*, a small literary magazine that Stone & Kimball published in Chicago in the mid-1890s. Bradley was one of the leading American designers of the poster revival then sweeping Europe and the United States, and his work drew on Japanese prints and the new Art Nouveau style. Magazine covers and posters like this one, printed in bold flat color with decorative lettering, helped turn commercial graphic design into an art form that collectors and the public took seriously.
