Mabry Mill, on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia, is one of the most photographed buildings in the region, and this drawing sheet shows the site as planners saw it: the mill, its millpond, and the land around them. Parkway construction in the 1930s brought engineers and draftsmen into the Virginia mountains to plan roads, overlooks and historic structures, and drawings like this one recorded how the water, buildings and grounds fit together before any changes were made. Worth noticing is the pond, which powered the wheel and remains a central feature of the site today.
