Atelier 17 was a printmaking workshop, and this color poster advertises an exhibition there that ran from April 15 to May 30, 1964. The workshop was founded in Paris in 1927 by the British printmaker Stanley William Hayter, who taught engraving and experimental intaglio techniques to many artists over the following decades. The poster was published in London by Editions Alecto Ltd, and the pencil signature on this copy marks it as a signed impression rather than a plain print run.
