Dedicated to the officers and members of the Troy Fire Company, this march honors one specific volunteer unit in Troy, New York, rather than firefighters in general. Volunteer fire companies in mid-nineteenth-century American cities were as much social clubs as fire crews, and their members often turned out for public parades, so a march written in their honor fit the customs of the day. The piece was composed by John C. Andrews, whose name the record gives as "Adrews," and published by Andrews in New York. The record dates the publication only to sometime between 1835 and 1856.
