The Lee House is a 1923 building in Washington, D.C., known here through a copy photograph made around 1990, so the image records the building as it appeared in the early 1920s. During that decade, apartment houses multiplied across the city as the federal workforce grew and more residents chose multi-unit living over single-family rowhouses. Pictures like this one are useful for studying how those buildings were designed, sited, and presented to the street. The library catalogs it under apartment houses in Washington during the 1920s.
