Here a quiet spot on the Potomac River, which forms much of the border between Maryland and Virginia before reaching Washington, appears in a view the caption card tags as fishing country. The Detroit Publishing Company produced many scenic views like this in the years before the First World War, sold as travel souvenirs and in albums that let armchair tourists see distant landscapes. The catalog record's details come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified, so the exact location and date are best treated as approximate.
