*Pologne*, the French title of this 1936 color poster, points to an audience of foreign travelers, and its skiing subject links it to the winter sports that drew visitors to the Tatra Mountains in southern Poland. Designed by Osiecki and Skolimowski, it belongs to a wave of interwar travel advertising in which Poland presented itself as a modern destination for outdoor recreation. By the 1930s skiing was a popular pastime across Central Europe, and posters like this one helped make winter holidays a selling point. Its bold colors and simplified figures reflect the commercial graphic style of the decade.
