What sets this plate apart is a shop labeled Lehman Tire, recorded on an 8 by 6 inch glass negative. It dates from about 1921 or 1922, when automobiles were rapidly changing American streets and the repair and tire businesses that served them. The National Photo Company made many commercial views of this kind, and Herbert A. French gave this plate to the Library of Congress in 1947. The shop name comes from unverified information on the negative sleeve, and streaks from the aging coating are visible on the glass.
