The name on this glass negative, Ralph H. Cameron, belongs to a Western politician who represented Arizona in Congress before serving as its U.S. senator from 1921 to 1927. He is best remembered for his long dispute over visitor services at the Grand Canyon, including his claims to the Bright Angel Trail and its facilities, which drew opposition from rival concessionaires and federal officials. The Bain News Service, which produced and distributed news photographs in the early twentieth century, supplied the name on the caption card, but the record marks it as unverified, so the sitter should be confirmed before the picture is cited.
