The word "Censored" sits at the center of this Louisiana silkscreen, paired with a reminder that the war should not be discussed casually. It was made by WPA War Services of Louisiana, a Works Progress Administration project in the state, and its face bears a January 21, 1943 date stamp. Like many home-front messages of the early 1940s, it asked ordinary citizens to guard their talk, since careless remarks about troop movements or production could reach enemy ears. The idea is often summed up as "loose lips sink ships.
