Make us as proud of you as we are of him!" speaks to a young man still at home, asking him to join up so his family can share the pride already felt for a relative who has enlisted. The Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, formed in London in 1915, issued posters like this one to encourage voluntary enlistment during the early years of the war, when Britain's army still relied on volunteers. David Allen & Sons of Harrow printed much of the official wartime poster output, and this lithograph is numbered 119 in its series. The catalog also indexes the design under pendant jewelry, so the image likely includes a piece of jewelry worth looking for.
